For me, a profound question surfaced last summer when I decided to sign up for a bike ride to raise money for a charity in Cape Cod.
In preparation for this 55 mile bike ride, I trained to increase my cycling speed so that I could finish the event in a reasonable amount of time. During this training process, I kept hearing myself ask, “Am I pedaling as hard as I can right now?”
I also had a watch with a speedometer that showed what my speed and cadence were. Every time I looked at it, I found myself asking, “Is what I’m doing right now getting me closer to my mile per hour goal?” And it was during that moment when I realized that was a great question to ask and apply in all aspects of our lives – business and personal.
Next time you find yourself working on your goals, ask yourself: “Am I pedaling as hard as I can right now?”
“Is what I’m doing currently getting me closer to my goal?”
